At the age of just 18, Parvez Hossain Emon was already a well-known entity in Bangladesh. Not only was he part of the 2020 U19 World Cup winning team, he had also smashed the record for the fastest T20 hundred by a Bangladesh player in the same year. Naturally, there was a lot of attention around the left-handed batter as he came up the ranks to make his debut for the senior team in 2022.

Born in Chattogram, Emon was the top-scorer in the U19 World Cup final against India in 2020 as he battled cramp to score 47, helping Bangladesh win their first-ever title in an ICC event. Interestingly, before the tournament, he had been dropped from the Asia Cup squad and was left heartbroken by that setback, so much so that he didn't want to take part in the national Under-18 competition. It was his coach Asadul Haque Tutul who intervened and forced him to change his mind that eventually changed his career forever. He scored 86 and 90 in the competition, which also marked his comeback to the Under-19 squad and led to the World Cup triumph.

Later in 2020, Emon grabbed headlines again as he smashed the fastest T20 hundred by a Bangladesh player. He achieved the feat in Bangladesh's domestic T20 tournament while playing for Fortune Barishal who were able to comfortably chase down a target of 220 thanks to his efforts.

With a high backlift and free bat-swing, Emon's brand of free-flowing cricket was what Bangladesh were looking for and he made his international debut in 2022. But after that solitary appearance against Zimbabwe, he didn't get another opportunity for close to a year. He next featured in the Asian Games 2023, but again had to spend a long time on the sidelines after a couple of games. Emon, however, kept knocking on the door with the sheer weight of runs in domestic cricket. He was the second-highest run-scorer in the 2024 Dhaka Premier League (50-over format), scoring 623 runs in 13 games with three centuries.

Later that year, he returned to the T20I squad again but once again he couldn't make the most of the limited opportunities given to him. It wasn't until May 2025 when he struck only the second T20I hundred by a Bangladesh player that he got an extended run with the team. That hundred, coming against UAE, was a game-changer for Emon and it opened new doors, paving the way for an ODI debut a couple of months later against Sri Lanka. He scored his maiden ODI fifty in just his second game and helped Bangladesh level the series before they went on to lose the decider.

While playing aggressively at the top of the order, Emon has struggled with consistency in the early part of his career. Apart from the hundred against UAE and a couple of fifties against Pakistan, there are a string of low scores in his first 20 T20Is.
